We’ve all chased visibility. The interview. The list. The feature. The follower count that finally makes the algorithm take you seriously. I’ve chased it. You’ve probably chased it. But I want to be clear: I don’t think that’s a bad thing. Visibility opens doors. It’s how a lot of us (myself included) got into rooms we were told weren’t built for us.
But my question is: if visibility gets you in, what are you doing once you’re inside? When my first book came out, I was everywhere. Podcasts, press, founder roundups. The headlines were generous, and I’m not going to pretend I didn’t enjoy them. I worked hard for that moment, and I let myself have it.
But would I really be living out my mission if I stopped there?
